Hi Eileen-
Yes I do know the Blueshounds. I have only heard them a few times but really like them alot. Might also know some of the people you met in Memphis. The solo/duo endorsed person, Cale Hawkins is from my area. Bet you heard alot of good music at the IBC. Delete Comment

You're referring to Joe Murphy. He and his band have been doing regular weekly gig at Your Father's Moustache on Spring Garden Road for about 17+ years. Calls the band Waterstreet Blues Band. Has a regular following of partiers. Zydeco is not my favourite style. Cheers - and Lower Deck - hosts more celtic bands these days. Sadly, live blues venues are few and far between.

Joe Murphy & The Waterstreet Blues Band

JOE MURPHY & THE WATERSTREET BLUES BAND have been a "blues institution" in the city of Halifax for many years. Mul ti -instrumentalist Joe Murphy, a popular fixture on the local blues and Cajun scenes, has played with many legendary blues players such as Otis Rush, Johnny Copeland, John Lee Hooker, Pinetop Perkins, and Johnny Sansone, to name a few. Joe has released a number of fine CD's over the laste few years including 2002's "Some Rough Stuff" (with Johnny Sansone).

Eileen, There was a blues guy near you who as well as guitar and I believe harmonica...he played pushbutton accordian... he had a band for a while... I want to say it was Water Street Blues.... I [layed a weird club named Cheers and a place on the water that as I remember was like a two story Log cabin style....Anyway... I enjoyed Halifax and there was also a sort of fancy Vietnamese restaurant on the second floor overlooking one of the main streets on the hill! Take care...I enjoyed your photos!
