- About Me:
- I am a BMI affiliated songwriter since the mid-1970's and own my own recording studio, publishing company and an "indie" Record Label. Having been raised on the Blues and R&B from before I could walk, I always wanted a career in music - doing anything I could! Been singing & playing Guitars, Bass and Drums for more than 40 years now and am blessed to have real friends as my band-mates in both bands; 'Dave Michaels Project' and 'Cross Town'. John Perry on Bass and Bob 'The Trogg' Herder on Drums. Bob and I went through High School and have played together since 1969. John and I met playing together in Zig-Zag Rhythm Band back in 1976. We have incredible fun onstage with the crowds, playing original songs and covering ALLOT of Robin Trower, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bad Company, Santana, Jimi Hendrix and others, along with many of the old "standards" from Buddy Guy, BB King, Albert King and many more.
Recently, I was introduced to Davey Pattison, Lead Vocalist for Robin Trower, Summit with Michael Schenker and GAMMA with Ronnie Montrose. Davey also has two FANTASTIC Solo Albums out called "Mississippi Nights" and "Pictures", which are available from his www.daveypattison.com Website and www.Alethea-Records.com Store Website. We have been collaborating on a couple projects and Davey has already recorded the Vocals for Cross Town's "Point Of View" (hear it at www.CrossTown-Band.com). We will continue to record additional songs for both Dave Michaels Project and Cross Town's upcoming 2009 releases.
Due to Bob Herder being on the road driving professionally for Major Label Tours, Davey put me in touch with a phenomenal drummer named Peter Alberé, who just finished 2 weeks straight in the studio with me getting 9 songs in the can and we're planning on more! COSMOS is an Instrumental Jazz/Blues Rock Fusion piece that Pete laid a scorching HOTT drum take down to and is the ONLY song we are featuring here at LBW right now. Soon, the songs done with Davey Pattison and Peter Alberé will be uploaded for your review - HOPE YOU LIKE SOMETHING! For now, please give Cosmos a listen and tell us your views on this Title Track to the 5th Dave Michaels Project CD, slated for release in 2009!
I have a fantastic Project/Post Audio/Visual Production Recording Studio in my home. 32 Tracks Digital (3 Edirol DA-2496 AD/DA PCI DAW units), 24 Track Digital for Live Gig Recording (Alesis HD24) and 8 Tracks Analog using a MINT condition TEAC 80-8 with ALL the bells and whistles plus 2 DX4D dbx Type 1 NR units. I use the Allen & Heath GL2400 Console for maintaining that Analog warmth in both Recording and Mixing down the tracks. The DAW is custom built by my computer company and loaded with SONAR 7 Producer Edition, Pinnacle Systems Titanium v10, plus FruityLoops Producer for creating whatever we don't play through real instruments.
For Music Pre-Mastering and Audio/Visual Post Production, I use another custom DAW loaded with Sony SoundForge 9, WaveLab 5 and many plug-ins including iZotope Ozone along with various pieces of outboard processing gear. Both DAW's have immense libraries of plug-ins to meet any need I've ever had. My favorite guitar is the Stratocaster, favorite bass is a P-Bass, favorite piano is my Alesis DG-8 and I use a double kick Pearl Session Series set with around 17 cymbals at last count for variety of tonal seasoning. Luckily for me AND my buddies, my wife Callie (of over 25 years now) is a constant source of support AND inspiration! She is the greatest gift God ever gave me on THIS side of the Jordan and I absolutely could not do this without her!

The Death of Stevie Ray Vaughn was such a shock & Loss to me then....that now it makes it that much more SWEET to see Robin
still forging ahead with new ideas for all these years..Yet with both Jimi & SRV gone...,I have come to believe Robin is probably greeted onstage by Jimis Spirit on a regular basis...I Truy Believe that..I could feel it during "For Earth Below"....
After witnessing Robin from 3 feet away here in Chicago in 2006....I can Easily say that the Blues he was playing ranks as the the Most MindBlowing Blues Statements on the guitar that I have ever seen in My Life...
Clpaton-Beck& Page must be scratching thier heads wondering:
"How does he continue to play the Blues from such A Deep Perspective?"
NO ONE CAN TOUCH ROBIN ON BLUES GUITAR TODAY..IN 2008
He is Simply Astounding..I must admit I love going Back & Forth studying & listening to both Jimi & Robins recordings and I always will...
