Sad to hear state of play over there, but, you know, sometimes things just go round in circles, you've just got to hold on and hang out. As you said, maybe not such a big deal for you, but it's the young ones coming through may find it harder. Unfortunately, seems to be like that in so many walks of life nowadays.
Keep posting, love what you have to say, intelligent and well thought out stuff,
With regards,
Jennie in UK
Thanks for reply. Not being a performer, sometimes hold back putting my oar in - bit in awe of all you guys (and gals) who been at the cutting edge so long.
My local venue is very small and cosy, a bit of standing room downstairs, right up to the stage if you want, bit of seating/comfort upstairs, but some of the artists who play there are legendary. Saw Johnny Winter about a month ago (travelled 60 miles to another venue next evening, to see him again, bit bigger, all standing, but still personal). Robin Trower couple of weeks ago, Eric Bibb tomorrow, Steve Howe Thursday, Keb' Mo, Walter Trout coming up etc. Good mix. They're all doing these gigs round the UK and I'm sure they're making a decent enough living - even retaining their rock star status and out there, performing (which is what most want to do) and getting their music heard. Most of the bigger acts come with a support too, and, if you can get one of these, the benefits are obvious. Of course, not always to plan - apparently, Michael Katon played to only about 50 people up in Kendal, but those who went had a real treat. Didn't come down here, that was his mistake ! Maybe he will next time !
Btw, talking Pretty Things. 2 of us left a post For Bo Diddly on a memorial site. The one above me was Phil May !!
I enjoy reading your stuff - keep it going. You have some very interesting points to make.
Put in a request for a friend add - hope that ok.
Regards from UK,
Jennie.
Take it easy..
Pete
played drums in my band early seventies, any idea where he is now ? Id love to get intouch with him again.
Thanks for the songs on your page.
I have the same problem locally with a bunch of "so called" SRV effictienadoes!
It has to be Super clean!!! Last time I checked, SRV used tons of distortion and noise.
Break out a classical guitar to play some Leon Redbone or my jumbo western to do
some Keb Mo and youd think I was play Tchaikovsky!
Thanks for the note be who you are , it's all we can be!
Play For Peace!
Lovely album, too! Not a single "cereal filler" song in the whole bunch!
Danny
