Here we have the Singing And Guitar Playing Miracle, Sista Rosetta Tharpe. Sista Tharpe was born in Arkansas and was a Gospel artist. Anyone who understands BLUES may have heard about the riff between Gospel music and Blues. Son House struggled with both. The belief is; if your not singing for GOD, then you are singing for the Devil. Blues, Jazz and Rock & Roll were the all called the Devil's Music! You can tell Sista Tharpe was influenced by some Jazz licks and yes, Blues (with a little of Memphis Mennie's style) infused with Gospel lyrics. Growing up in Mississippi, I would see/hear so many songs and performances that sounded like Blues but were really Gospel Songs-so I'm thinking, maybe the Blues aint so bad after all! Enjoy!
