Hey all, It's Johnny Full-Time! I just wanted to drop a line and bring everyone up to speed on a LOT of things that have taken place over the last couple of weeks.
First off, I was let go from my day job a little over a week ago. I was working a gig doing radio news, and thought it was pretty secure, but unfortunately, that may have been naive. The company shut down their entire news operation, and went to a local TV station for their news content.
I'm not upset in the slightest bit, and I actually have taken advantage of the opportunity, using the time to evaluate my current situation, and discuss with my family how deep my passion for the Blues runs, and what I would like to do from here on out.
I'm trying to get all of the pieces in place to begin doing production of the show (especially interviews) from home. I feel like we're growing to the point where I can't let equipment stand in the way of putting artists on the show, and I am taking things into my own hands to get interviews set-up and done for the show.
Second on my list is the All Schools Creative Spotlight 2009, which was held in Evansville, IN one week ago. I am a co-creator and committee member for the event, which was designed to raise money benefiting the Arts in ALL of the schools in the county I work in.
The event was a total success, and even went beyond expectations, solidifying itself as an event with a future in this community, and perhaps many more.
Special thanks to Carl Rodenberg, Tommy Stillwell, Jon Rochner, and all of the other musicians and bands who played at the Spotlight for nothing other than the applause. You guys made this event one of the greatest things I will ever be a part of, and I am eternally grateful.
Finally, the show has been pre-empted a ton lately, and while it's unfortunate, it's also part of the deal. WUEV has been tremendous in their continued support of the Blues and Full-Time Blues, and I fully realize that the show is going to be interrupted by sports programming on occasion. I thank the artists, representation, and most importantly, the listeners, for their patience and loyal support. The summer is coming quickly, and that means Summer vacation. Full-Time Blues will be the king of the campus again.
So that's it in a nutshell. The other news out of our house is that my sister's extended stay in the hospital while she is preparing for the birth of her first son has had me away from the computer more often than not lately, as I have stayed many nights there to support her and my parents. So, if you message me and I don't get back right away, please bear with me.
Thanks and God bless to all of you. There are more significant annoucements on the horizon, but I can't let the cat out of the bag on these yet. Stay tuned for more!
