Music Maker Announces the 4th Annual Congressional Blues Festival

This year's event is scheduled for May 16, at the Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC. The event website is up to date, and has all of the details. The lineup includes The Derek Trucks Band, Mudcat, Sweet Betty and Adolphus Bell. \r\n\r\nThis sounds like it will be a great night, and all for a good cause. From the event's mission statement:\r\n
The "Blues", America's own creation and tradition, is at the heart of our cultural identity. Unfortunately, its importance in music history is sometimes overlooked and the opportunity for its creators to pass on this tradition to future generations is slipping away. Many Blues pioneers are struggling to make a living through their art, as most opportunities for these artists have evaporated in our increasingly homogenized culture. \r\n\r\nThe Congressional Blues Festival is an effort to help keep this great American tradition alive. It is a celebration that honors American roots music in our nation's capital on a "national" stage. It is dedicated to raise money and awareness for the Music Maker Relief Foundation which was created eleven years ago to make certain the Blues tradition would survive by supporting not only these artists' music, but the artists themselves.
\r\nThe folks at Music Maker do good work...and create great music as well.\r\n
