Saturday, January 12, 2008 Grammy gala in Grapevine? Let's get this party started! By JOY DONOVAN Star-Telegram Staff Writer Grammy gala? Don't believe we've had one of those around here before. But we're going to this year to celebrate the Grammy-nominated Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen - Live in Dallas, produced by Colleyville father and son team Jeffry and Michael Dyson. The duo leaves Feb. 9 for a weekend of Grammy-related events but before they go, we'll have our own party here. Tickets are on sale for the Blue Shoe Project Grammy Gala, set for Feb. 8 at The Palace Theatre, 300 S. Main St., in Grapevine. Call it a gala, or better yet, call it the Grammy pre-party. "We're new to this whole Grammy thing," Michael said this week. He figures it'll be no big deal to party in Grapevine then leave for Los Angeles, where his family and the album's musicians will rub elbows with other nominees, like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Vince Gill. At least one Grammy nominee will highlight the Grapevine party. Ninety-two-year-old David "Honeyboy" Edwards, featured on the album along with Pinetop Perkins, Robert Lockwood Jr., and Henry James Townsend, will perform in concert. The four performed together at a show in October 2004 at Dallas' Majestic Theater as part of the Dyson's Blue Shoe Project. Those with VIP tickets for Grapevine Grammy gala get to meet and greet "Honeyboy" at 7 p.m. before his 8 p.m. concert. Tickets priced from $25 to $100 will include beverages and hors d'oeuvres, and can be purchased online at www.BlueShoeProject.org or by calling 1-800-714-6019. "It's going to be a real gas," Jeffry Dyson said. "We've found people really love the music like we do."
