Crossroads to Freedom Continue
(Chris Dair Music)
Honestly, it has been a while since I heard a guitar player that I resonate with like I do Chris Dair. The French guitar slinger is not only a brilliant and creative innovator on the six-string, he is also a extremely talented vocalist.
On Crossroads to Freedom, Dair takes us on a joy ride from the straight up electric blues of “Lost in Wasted Time” and “No Reason…

How we see the world and how we comment on it changes with each day as our experiences grow and expand. That’s where “My Roaring 20’s” enters as performed by 39-year-old Jason Vivone of the songs of his 21-year-old self. The creative energy of youth fuses with the forced wisdom that can come from eighteen more years of life. Instead of “Hollywood” being a love song to a girl that Vivone wants to stay in his life, the wisdom of the intervening years makes the creative act itself the subject of… Continue

OK..I'm going to give you tuning for Dmajor which you'll find easier to use. I have a musician, an old friend who is a guitar teacher who argues that it is Cmajor, however I say it is in Dmajor, and I'm sticking to my guns.
First play the chord of Dmajor. Now take the first string, play the D on the E first, and remember that note and tune the first string up to that note.
Take the second string, play the G and take the second string up to that note.
Follow suit with the… Continue

I was just a kid when I met Rory. I can't remember the venue (I really wish I could). It was a bar in Manchester sometime in either '73 or '74. Continue
A friend of mine introduced me to the band and I ended up playing. Rory asked
me what my name was, I said Chris Dair, and he said "it can't be Dair, it
must be O'Dair", which I later found was true! I remember we played
Catfish Blues and it was absolutely brilliant, a…

I met Bukka White when I was a very young guitarist, he was doing a tour with several other great jazz/blues players - I am pretty sure it was in Leek, Staffordshire in the UK - I wish I'd chronicled all the people I played with
As a musician it was the really important things that stuck in my mind, for instance, who he was, what he was playing. He played with incredible technique on his right hand - kind of playing… Continue

In a bit of CyberSoulMan sleight of hand and push button technology time manipulation, I was able to broadcast live the interview I did with great Sean Carney even as he cruised at 30,000 plus feet, California-bound for ...his Monday night Blue Monday gig at the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake. The interview was broadcast on my Monday morning Blues radio show at 8 a.m. on 88.1 FM. In truth,… Continue

As a teenager, I’d wait backstage for the old blues guys in ..Chicago.. and ....Kansas City.... to show me something on guitar. Hubert Sumlin, Son Seals, Maxwell Street Jimmy Davis, Jessie Mae Hemphill and a woman I don't think is known outside of Kansas City too much, Rosemary Robinson. In my mid-20's, I was in Branson playing for an Elvis impersonator and I put my guitar away for years. It made me sick to be without my blues. About three years ago, I was directing a production of THE COLORED… Continue
