Regarded as a bluesman’s blues band, and one of the finest in central Arkansas, it’s no surprise that their debut CD,
“Too Bad,” is an authentic, original album with a nod to the greats.
Chad Carter is the bandleader, guitarist, and vocalist for Unseen Eye. He learned music as a child from his grandmother, who was a blues and ragtime pianist. Fascinated by the guitar, he began playing the guitar in his teens and spent several years as an apprentice to Hot Springs Arkansas Bluesmen, Joe Colvis and St. Thomas Jenkins. An unfortunate accident in 2000 left Chad’s index and middle fingers of his fretting hand nearly severed, which has resulted in quite an interesting playing style.
Unseen Eye is honored to include Little Rock Arkansas icon “Chicken” James Dorris on piano. Chicken has been behind the keys most of his 74 years, learning blues piano from his father. Chicken has performed with an A-list of blues greats including Houston Stackhouse, Bo Diddley, Cedell Davis, Pinetop Perkins, and Fenton Robinson, who became Chicken’s brother-in-law after they married sisters.
On the bass guitar is Kenneth Tillery. At just 25, his youth disguises an incredible musical talent. Kenneth has been performing with the band since his teens and has become a central member of the band.
Jobe Kara has been Chad’s drummer since 1997 and offers a powerful and hip approach with his playing. The years of performing as a group has made Unseen Eye a solid, well versed musical voice that is a delight for all blues lovers.
Unseen Eye has performed with some of today’s finest blues artists, including Zak Harmon, Robin Rogers, Joe Pitts, Michael Burks, Tas Cru, Anthony Gomes, and the Stella Vees. Unseen Eye represented the Spa City Blues Society at the 25th International Blues Challenge in 2009 and will represent the Arkansas River Blues Society at 26th IBC in 2010. “Too Bad” was also chosen as the Arkansas River Blues Society representative in The Blues Foundation’s “Best self produced CD contest” for 2010.
