STORMCELLAR is a Sydney-based dynamic 5-piece blues outfit. The band has been growing since it's inception in 2007and now comprises Michael Barry (harmonica & vocals), Paul Read (slide guitar), Michael “Swamp-monster” Rosenthal (lead-guitar) along with a kickin‘ rhythms of Theo Wanders (ex Mal Eastick Band, Shuffle Kings and has jammed with blues legend BB King).
Michael Barry and Paul Read have distilled the inspiration and insights they’ve gained from travels around the world to bring something uniquely original and modern to their brand of blues, together with influences dating back to the late 60’s and 70’s. Flavours of Texas and Ireland, and references to the likes of the Allman Brothers, Canned Heat, Little Feat, early bluesmen Little Walter and Howlin’ Wolf, are proudly evident in their collection of original songs. They can slam out a stinging whiskey-soaked Chicago boogie, then turn around and caress the audience with a ballad that sounds like it has come from the Stones songbook.
“We like to think we have our own brand of R&B: that is ‘Roots and Boogie’, and we take our audience on a trip through the genres of the blues via Tokyo to Mali and Mississippi to Hawaii. Our aim is give full performances to our audiences, with classy yet powerful sets they can dance to or just enjoy listening.”
We released our first album “Whiskey Talkin" in 2008 and our newest release ‘Space Junk’ was launched July 2009. At present we're also promoting the “Live-to-analogue adventure” EP (Space Junk) and we're in the midst of mixing our second album ‘Nuevo Retro’ (due out before the end of 2009), and yet somehow we continue to gig relentlessly! (we just can't help it!) We recently appeared at “Sydney Blues Festival” and have just returned from touring (Vic),
We have gigs lined up well into next year, so it looks like as the summer hots up, so does STORMCELLAR! "If you’d like to experience the progression of the blues, with all the traditional trimmings on board, you should definitely check us out!!

Between embedded images and youtube clips, the easiest way for me to compose our blogs is under joomla (for you geeks out there!) on our main webpage. Just because I'm not copying and pasting between there and here doesnt indicate lack of activity, merely a certain sense of laziness and technical ineptitude.
Ahem.
