from Sol Roots website:

Sol is a world-class guitarist, bassist, songwriter, and recording artist who began his musical experiences performing with blues luminaries such as Guitar Gabriel, Captain Luke, and Cool John Ferguson. Sol has studied a variety of fingerpicking styles at which he excels, and he plays an array of original, traditional, and cover songs. His talent stretches from fiery rock to laid-back jazz, and from funky innovative grooves to soulful ballads, always drawing on a deep background in blues.

Leading a collaboration of professional musicians from the southeast and mid-atlantic US, Sol is no stranger to the road. Sol and his band members having performed festivals and venues nationally and internationally.

Sol has covered much of the surface of the earth on tour, lighting up venues across North America, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean.

Sol has shared the stage with music heavyweights such as Taj Mahal, BB King, Cootie Starks, Cool John Ferguson, John Dee Holeman, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Soulive, Derek Trucks, and others. Sol has also performed with members of jam band favorites such as Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Dynamite Brothers, Jah Works, Hobex, Carolina Chocolate Drops and more.

Sol has frequently toured a part of Music Maker Revue. Music Maker is a humanitarian organization that helps support the pioneers of roots, blues, and r&b music.

Paying homage to the greats, Sol seeks to bring Roots Music to a new generation of listeners.

The CD release, entitled Freedom, features the core musical unit of Sol on guitar and vocals, King George on drums, and Jake D on bass. Also guest appearances by Tim Smith (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Hobex, Countdown Quartet), as well as members of VA’s reggae groups the Seed and the Alliens. With these special guests, the new album moves from greasy delta grooves to deep reggae, and from stanky funk to soulful R&B.

I’m just another human being whos been blessed to perform and share music with others for a few years now. I play guitar, bass, sing, write, and some piano and drums. - (do we play Music or does Music play us?). I’ve been a part of so many recording projects I can’t remember them all.

I’ve traveled many places all over this wonderful world, performing at some of the largest festivals in the world to small parties in peoples backyards, at uplifting spiritual church services to wild crazy parties I can’t even remember. From the tops of campgrounds in clear country mountains, to the heart of da city and funky ghetto hole-in-the-walls.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with famous musicians I really respect, and other intensely talented cats that not too many people have ever heard of before. Fame is all relative- My grandmom said “BB King? I’ve heard of him before...” Talent doesn’t guarantee you success. But hard work, dedication, talent, can open many doors. It’s more important to be content in your own heart & treat others you meet along life’s highway with kindness and respect.

I’ve dug deep into blues and been heavily influenced by alot of blues pioneers I’ve hung with. check alot of them out at www.musicmaker.org. Most of these saints did their music simply for the love of it- the real reasons to make music: to connect people with one another and to spread love, ideas, and feelings through the music.

I’ve traveled and performed in the south, east coast, & mid US, all over Europe, Canada, Carribbean, Brazil, Costa Rica, Australia, and really believe all people are wonderful, and we are all one-

What ever your talent is in this life, there is a reason you have it- you are supposed to share it & leave this world better than the way you found it. Everyone has there own voice and style, and I respect where ever you are coming from, as long as it’s from your heart. Keep spreading the good blues!! peace

Oh no, I didn't play with the DPT, I was w/ my own group, The Primates. We played just before the DPT. We only play together every so often because we're all sidemen with other acts. Mostly doing a lot of Booker T. stuff, Meters and Gulf Coast Blues. We will hook up one of these days!
