I am the president of the Cascade Blues Association, about to begin my seventh year in this position (May). I am a performance photographer, mostly blues musicians, and a writer. Most of my work appears in the CBA BluesNotes newspaper, but have also appeared in other publications and CD covers.
Favorite Blues Artists and Bands
Too many to list, I can listen to most everybody and my tastes vary from day to day. I am particularly fond of the Delta, however.

Slim---------- Randy,Doug Rowell,Mike Moothart, and myself are the last people that Dave Kahl,Peter Dammon, etc would invite to anything.Randy and I have done so much for people,including my near lifelong friend Paul deLay------- yet were not invited to do anything that they were involved in. You know the story.
It's OK man- I had the best musical year of my over 40 years of playing Blues in 2008.
Iwas on the ground floor of the Portland Blues scene. It was like a 2nd. home for me since 1968. Now it is though I have been forced out and overlooked. It just hurts man.Not complaining, just telling you the way it is. A Muddy Awards with no Jim Mesi ? The guy is one of the main reasons Portland got on the musical map.
Just know I will always play the real deal Blues. It has to get real again Slim. More Delta Blues at the WFBF and less funk and zydeco;
Sorry about the rant man, I just see strange stuff happening in a town that I use to love.------------ JLR
Been to Australia,New Zealand, Tazmania,England as well as Baker City. The over seas things went very well. Going back again this year. The economy has everybody scared man. Was in Texas last month---------- music scene is not good, no matter what anybody tells you, or you read online.Even my buddies in ZZ Top have felt the crinch.
I heard about the fund raiser this weekend.Sorry I did not get the invite to play.
