Well, have been a little lax - again! - in writing about my last trip to the USA. Spent a wonderful week in Chicago and managed to catch a couple of blues shows. Looking forward to the trip over the Pond this weekend. My wife and I are flying out to Chicago this coming Sunday (23rd). We'll be in the city for a week. Have really enjoyed the past few days hanging out with my Brazilian blues buddy, guitarist and singer, Alamo Leal, who has been on tour in the UK and France. Caught a couple of his shows down in the West Country in Bath at The Bell Inn and in Frome, Somerset, at The Griffin, a fascinating pub/microbrewey where all the beers/ciders they serve are brewed on the premises. Have three reviews to write and hopefully will get them done for inclusion in a forthcoming "Blues in Britain" magazine. Have been listening to Rick Derringer, Little Joe Washington and Gwyn Ashton. Three very different artists working in the blues field. Mea culpa here: have already missed one deadline. Had better get my act together or my reviews editor may be looking out a P45! Also waiting for an advance copy of Jon Amor's new CD ... nothing in the post yet!
