Trip back to the USA

Well, have been a little lax - again! - in writing about my last trip to the USA. Spent a wonderful week in Chicago and managed to catch a couple of blues shows. Saw a wondeful acoustic blues show featuring harmonica player and singer Joe Filisko and his partner on guitar and National steel, Eric Nodden. They played some wonderful pre-war acoustic blues and heaped on a whole stew of ambience for the diners privileged to see them in the backroom of the restaurant whose name I can never…See More

Chicago

Looking forward to the trip over the Pond this weekend. My wife and I are flying out to Chicago this coming Sunday (23rd). We'll be in the city for a week. Anyone out there with good blues suggestions for us please feel free to email me. You can get me at scottduncan@ntlworld.com. We'll certainly be visiting Rosa's Lounge on Sat 29th Aug. Have heard from the Windy City Blues Society that they're holding a society meet and that Lurrie Bell will be the star attraction. C'ain't wait!

Alamo Leal

Have really enjoyed the past few days hanging out with my Brazilian blues buddy, guitarist and singer, Alamo Leal, who has been on tour in the UK and France. Caught a couple of his shows down in the West Country in Bath at The Bell Inn and in Frome, Somerset, at The Griffin, a fascinating pub/microbrewey where all the beers/ciders they serve are brewed on the premises. Also had the pleasure of playing a couple of numbers myself with Alamo at the regular Thursday night open mic/jam session at…See More

Reviews

Have three reviews to write and hopefully will get them done for inclusion in a forthcoming "Blues in Britain" magazine. Have been listening to Rick Derringer, Little Joe Washington and Gwyn Ashton. Three very different artists working in the blues field. Mea culpa here: have already missed one deadline. Had better get my act together or my reviews editor may be looking out a P45! Also waiting for an advance copy of Jon Amor's new CD ... nothing in the post yet!More anon ...See More

Hey Scott,
We definitely gotta get you on Blindman's Blues Forum! I help promote the website. It's worth looking up, believe me. Just GOOGLE it. Over 500,000 posts! You would make an amazing contributer. Please give my offer some thought? I'm not even asking you to be a regular contributer, if that helps?

The 30th of december last year it suddenly appear a lighting sceanery on heaven. Luckely I managed to grab a camera and save the image. It was almost like the creator came down in his greatness. With this photo I want to wish you and yours a merry christmas and a happy, new year full of posibilities and great moments.
Peace, love and respect.

Every day we are jumping from one task to another – looking at the watch as a guide. No wonder heart attack is one of the main causes to death. We forget to pause, to look around and to enjoy friendship and family. The world is beautiful – you only have to allow yourself to see it - to experience it. Look at the watch, painted by Jette – given the title “Time is relative”.
