Robert Stanley: It's Rockabluesic time!

Profile Information

About Me:

Someone once said "Robert went down to the crossroads, kicked the devil's ass, and stole his blues." His voice alone would have got 'em shakin' in his boots and his guitar would have stabbed 'em in the heart.

Robert is a fearless musical mastermind who will grab you in the depths of your soul, strap you on his back, and take you to places you always dreamed of going.

Yeah, this is pure Rockabluesic. Hang on tight. This ain't no place for cowards.

The Rock and Roll Report Podcast of "Baby's Like a Train"

I added The Rock and Roll Report February 4, 2009 Podcast of "Baby's Like a Train" with very nice comments to my playlist.

I enjoyed the difficulty Mark Boudreau had describing the style of music. That's because IT'S ROCKABLUESIC!

Here's how he described it:

"This is really interesting stuff.

You know if you use that kind of the term, a swampy, I don't know, swamp rock almost, very bluesy, swampy, ha! swamp rock, I don't know.

You'll know when you hear it. I think you'll understand what I'm… Continue

Shake! Magazine calls Roadman's Hammer "the best album of the year so far!”

“Shake! Magazine” - Fall 2008: Nashville, TN, USA
Roadman’s Hammer Review

“I’ve just heard the best album of the year so far. It came totally out of left field for me. Robert Stanley is a local music legend from Waukegan, IL. He is an astute writer, incredibly proficient guitarist, and vocalist extraordinaire.

Recorded in Atlanta, ‘Roadman’s Hammer’ is some of the most melodic, smart ‘Rockabluesic’ (his term) music that has ever crossed this writer’s ears. This is world class stuff. Every tune… Continue

I HAVE LONG SUSPECTED THIS!

Now, I must tell you I have long suspected this. I have seen evidence of it but not wanting to sound like I'm tooting my own horn, have told no one. I thought it better to let others speak.

Well, it has been documented and I feel no sense of modesty need prevent me from passing it on to you. What you do with this information is up to you. I, for one, just like to help people. Perhaps you feel the same way.

No less an authority than the book

Hi Robert - likewise, thanks for the friendship. I once saw one of your influences, Mississippi Fred in concert - long time ago. I'm glad you like Coldplay as well (us blues singers are not supposed to, according to some!!),

All the best,

JB

FYI Buddy Knox is an Australian Aboriginal that performs great blues with his young son and cousins. Won Best New Talent in the Australian Blues Music Awards back in Feb '09. Buddy has been performing for over 30 years in bands and is an excellent blues guitarist. Cheers
