About Me:
651 ARTS is dedicating its entire annual season to the culture, artists and influence of the Mississippi Delta in The Mississippi Delta Heritage Project. While the history and impact of the Delta Blues tradition is undisputed, few are aware of the contemporary artistry that continues to thrive in the region. The Mississippi Delta Heritage Project provides a glimpse of this flourishing artistic culture to New York audiences. CASSANDRA WILSON, COREY HARRIS, T-MODEL FORD, JIMMY “DUCK” HOLMES, and LOBI TRAORÉ are among the many outstanding artists, either from or influenced by the Delta, who will be performing as part of this series.

A multi-evening series of music, theater and dance celebrating the Mississippi Delta, featuring:

Reggie Wilson and Andréya Ouamba
Ping Chong and Talvin Wilks
Sharde Thomas and the Rising Star Fife & Drum Band
Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely
Olu Dara and Dianne McIntyre
T-Model Ford
Terry “Harmonica” Bean
Jimmy “Duck” Holmes
Marie Knight

The Blues are coming to Brooklyn...and things are heating up!

Behind the scenes at the 651 ARTS Mississippi Delta Heritage Project, things are cooking.

We’re working long days and nights to bring the blues back to Brooklyn. I’ll be spending hours posting flyers and handing out promo materials to NYC hotspots like Terra Blues and Other Music. Last night was the premier of Delta Rising, a new performance piece composed of narratives from Delta natives. It went off with a bang. Two sold out shows and the venue had a warm feeling to it – everyone was fascinat… Continue

Hi Guys,
You should check the Web based Music Community www.MakinMusicNY.com. It is a growing group of musicians & fans of live music, primarily in the NY/NJ area & we are honored by the presence of many notable musicians.

Members can post their gigs to our interactive calendar, express themselves, network, and much more. You may have some friends there already. I hope to see you there. – Mike

Hello Mississippi Delta Heritage Project,
Here is my wish for the very best to you and all my LiveBluesWorld friends as we take the music of our heritage into 2009 and the 21st century.
It's an honor to be on this journey with you. ..and a pleasure to be your friend. Thank you for allowing me to be a member of the community.

Thanks for putting together an incredible week of music. Jimmy "Duck" Holmes was incredible Thursday night. My all time favorite Jimmy show. And three nights of Juke Joint music, with T-Model Ford, Terry "Harmonica" Bean, and Robert Belfour. I was exhausted by the end, but it was well worth it. Thanks again...you put together a great event.
