About Me:
M FOR MISSISSIPPI is a timely new road movie that explores the thriving underbelly of a truly American art form in the land where it began – Mississippi.

Planned as a weeklong journey through the birthplace of the blues, M FOR MISSISSIPPI captures the proverbial “real deal” in its home where it is most comfortable and authentic – the jukes, the front yards, the cotton fields. More than just a collection of concert performances, the film collects the sounds, the images and the feel of both the performers and their native landscape – an environment essential to their livelihoods and inseparable from their art.

M FOR MISSISSIPPI features more than a dozen of the state's most fascinating bluesmen, including: T-Model Ford, Robert "Wolfman" Belfour, Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, Robert "Bilbo Walker, Wesley "Junebug" Jefferson, L.C. Ulmer, R.L. Boyce, Cadillac John Nolden, the Mississippi Marvel, Pat Thomas, Mr. Tater the Music Maker, Terry "Harmonica" Bean, Bill Abel and Lightnin' Malcolm.

Hi Guys, the first L P I bought was chuck Berry and Bo Diddily called two great guitars , I live in a small town on the east coast of Scotland . called Arbroath ,where they have a delicacy called a Smokie it is a haddock fish caught in the north sea smoked over a amber fire. if you have not eaten this delicacy you must do so before you die . anyway that is where our organisation took it's name from www.smokiblues.com [ hence the spelling] .Arbroath and Scotland have there own roots music which is really good stuff, I have a hard job trying to convert the majority of people to even listen to the blues never mind support it but we have been putting on blues concerts ,festivals , and Workshops in schools, for over six years now .I can tell you it has not been easy ,we had a great blues band who played to six people at one of our gigs ,and it was free entry ,but we have persevered over the years and we are getting there . nobody said the blues was going to be easy .We went to Memphis a couple of years ago ,did the Elvis thing and visited Beal street , Saw Blind[ Mississippi] Morris in the BB King club great , but it was only when we hired a car and drove down highway sixty one and arrived in Clarksdale visited the original crossroads ,and visited cat head , Roger Stolle's shop [ our name is in the visitors book] that we got the feeling of the blues roots,I recommend it to anyone . I think the film is a great idea , have only seen the trailer .iam off to by the DVD now . keep up the good work.you don't have to be black to be blue .

I have not yet made it to Clarksdale but it is on my list of things to do before I leave the South. I need some blues buddies to hang out with!!

I will check out the website and will definitely be making a purchase. Funny...I met a young man from Mississippi recently and he doesn't know anything about the blues AT ALL! I told him about the video the other day. It will be a great educational experience.
