I really connect with the blues but I have a variety of musical taste. Most music if excuted correctly and played with passion has something postive to offer the hearing soul. So I have many types of music I listen to however, I usally come back to the blues. Since I became a teenager in the mid sixties, and being a middle class white boy and from Ca my blues exposure was through English blues rock bands: Peter Green(Fleetwood Mac), Cream, John Mayall, Savoy Brown, Led Zeppelin, and American artists like Taj Mahal, The Doors, Johnny Winter and of course Jimi Hendrix. I had no idea who really wrote all the songs I was listening to until I started really listening to the blues and reading blues history. I must say I like a lot of the modern renditions of many blues standards. I am a drummer, singer and song writer. I am currently playing in a blues-rock band called JCL in the Denver metro area (westside rockin blues) and a few years back played in a blues rock band called Isoline here in Colorado. Isoline was the name of Muddy waters oldest daughter. My oldest son is the bass player and singer in a power blues band called Annapurna(www.myspace.com/annapurnaband).
They are young 21-22, killer musicians and playing a high energy blues. This is somewhat uncommon for young guys to identify with the blues but they are carrying on-its very cool. I have included some pics of Annapurna and will be putting some of my music and some of theirs on this site soon. I am pretty excited about this new site, get the kids excited about the blues. I really like it too. Can't wait to see Trower. I went to the Tesla concert with a friend last night. Man, I am so over that music. The place was packed and they were all 80's metal lovers...just 20 years old (and still looked the same). Must be all warehouse workers. One guy was covered head to toe in tattoos. I hope he owns a tattoo parlor, because I don't think anyone else would hire a guy that looked that scary.
Just keep trying, will do the same for you. Have fun on your trips. ask Robin if he remembers playing Winterland in about 1972? I like the new CD

President's Day. Our girls have two days off. We go to see dad that weekend every year. Too hot in the summer and school the rest of the year. Robin will sign autographs after every show for about 45 minutes. He'll sign anything. I got hold of his manager a month ago. I just got hold of the bass player for Lez Zeppelin, the all-girl tribute band. They are touring and will be at the Bluebird in March. I was trying to get us and Annapurna to be opening bands for the gig. She doesn't have much control of that (local promoters do) but she's going to look into it. Maybe the Bluebird and Boulder shows. Wouldn't that be cool.
I'll be flying with my family to Tampa to go see my dad over a long weekend. Otherwise, I would have loved to. Let's jam with Noah and Jason. I can come over whenever. I'm not traveling until the 16th. Get back the 19th and head to Seattle on the 20th. Robin Trower tickets that night in Seattle. I'm bringing my old Gibson for him to sign (the same one Johnny Winter signed last year).
