About Me:
Kim Capps is the real deal. Her songs and her powerful delivery all touch the soul on her new CD “Blues Gonna Show the Way”.

When Kim sings, she brings it and she owns it. In addition to her strong, beautiful voice, she is a songwriter with a unique ability to access joy and pain in a way that invites the listener to join right in and come along for the ride.

Performing locally for many years, she first became known locally leading the Unusual Suspects. She found her true voice when she dove head first into the acoustic blues. She is a valued member of the Barbershop jams sponsored by the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation (www.acousticblues.com).

The blues got into her heart and they shape her songwriting and musical connection. She wails Robert Johnson’s “Love in Vain” with depth and beautiful dynamics. She becomes a sensuous siren on her own “Deep Blue. In another original, “Raise Your Voice”, she claims and shares the powerful right to ask the right questions. These and all cuts on “Blues Gonna Show the Way” showcase her ability to sing blues and gospel side by side. In her able hands the listener is gifted with music that echoes our human need for both tears and vision, expressed through sorrow and hope.

She’s influenced by her study and collaborations with many amazing musicians of the highest caliber, including Gaye Adegbalola of Saffire, the Uppity Blues Woman, piano virtuoso Roddy Barnes, and blues woman Maria Woodford. And as you’ll know when you hear her sing her songs, she is a true student of life in the world that surrounds her. Lucky us- we get the healing power of her shared passion and musical vision in a package that is as entertaining as it is uplifting.
Favorite Blues Artists and Bands
Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Blind Willie Johnson, Gaye Adegbalola, Roddy Barnes, Mike Baytop to name a few.

Gaye Adegbalola weighs in on the CD!

Gaye Adegbalola, internationally known for performing both with Saffire-Uppity Blues Women and in a duo with pianist Roddy Barnes, has weighed in on "Blues Gonna Show the Way," my CD. Gaye, a W.C. Handy award-winning songwriter, writes:

"I've always said that gospel music mainly tells a story about salvation later on, while blues music is about salvation here and now. Kim has combined the two.
When you sing you pray twice; and when you sing your own song you pray thrice. Kim's songs are her pra… Continue

Hi Kim,

Hi Kim,
I liked your version of Love in Vain. You've got to be good to go that slow! I'll try to catch you around town sometime. Good luck at the release party!

Hi Kim,
thanks for the comments,it is only my opinion ,but I think the blues following in Australia is pretty small, decent gigs are few and far between, especially if you are over 40.Most of the gigs in Adelaide are for young party cover bands.agents do not book blues bands.I only returned to Australia 18 months ago after being in Scotalnd for the past 20 years. In the eighties I was based in Sydney, gigged 6 nights a week, but also played Irish/Scots and country rock.I wont be gigging for a few months as I am waiting for a hip replacement. But from what I have seen there isnt a lot out there anyway.
Hope someone can prove me wrong. What is your gig scene like.?
