The answer to your question is to use a drummer who also never
plays the same way twice, not because he is incapable but because
he is on the ball enough to realise that a true performance could never
be the same twice , anything else is contrived.
I have always played that way myself and always with other
musicians who have that ability it's truly enpowering to push out the
barriers.
Sorry to sound a bit pretentious but music is serious stuff.
