About Me:: John Boy Blues is the music and musical projects of blues and roots music enthusiast and singer/songwriter John Michael Bishop. I have been involved in music since I was a kid, in church and school choires, started playing acoustic guitar when I was 12 and played trombone in Jr. Hich.. As a late teen/young adult I was introduced to "Outlaw Country Music", West Coast Hippie Country Music and the Grateful Dead in College. I played bass guitar in many underground country bands around the Oklahoma City area. I toured with Roger Ivy and Silver Creek based out of Oklahoma City as their bass player in the early 80's.

During the mid 80's I joined the military and I am still serving our country to this day. I have always listened to music and been a fan of an assorted genre's of music. After a haitus from playing music for about 15 years I got back into it in 99 with a band on Okinawa called Roadhouse. Roadhouse did a lot of contemporary country, southern rock and blues. About that time I really started getting into Old School Blues and modern Blues and Roots music. So I picked the guitar back up and started learning to play slide guitar and fingerstyle country blues guitar. I also write and I have a Home Recording studio.

I love all forms of Blues, Blues based rock and Roots music and some Folk stuff too. Am currently working on recording some of the songs I have written and hope to post soon.
