Music has been my passion since I was a kid growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina in a family steeped in song and stories. To give you an idea of my career so far here's a few facts & highlights..
I'm an American Grammy Nominee, award winning acoustic guitarist, performing singer/songwriter, Master Appalachian Storyteller, Nashville published songwriter and ASCAP writer. I tour internationally playing country blues, all original material mixed with rootsy favourites I've co-billed with top artists such as , Ralph Stanley, Marty Stewart, and many others. I've also written and co-written songs for top country blues performers.
As a singer/songwriter I've performed at many high profile events in the USA, Canada, The UK, and Mainland Europe. such as the Edinburgh International Storytelling Festival, The Bath International Music Festival, Belfast Nashville Singer/Songwriter Festival, The Merle Fest.. the list goes on and I enjoy every one!
I'm an all round performer and entertainer, mixing my country blues original music with humor told in the Appalachian Dialect. As an authentic Appalachian Storyteller coming from a family rich in the heritage of storytelling, that's my other passion and the second string to my bow as a performer. My late cousin Ray Hicks was voted into the Smithsonian Institute by members of Congress as a National Treasure. and I'm the last of this heritage. It's been my privilege to appear and work with great storytellers David Holt, Dan Yashinsky, Milbre Burch, and others at world renowned festivals .
Drop me a line at my website, I'm also a pretty nice guy (not to mention modest) and would love to hear from you all!
