A videographer creating performance website clips and performance DVDs as promotion tools for musicians, while at the same time providing a free video archive of Blues performances on the web.
Again I will be taping in Memphis during the International Blues Challenge, February 2010. I skipped a year due to family obligations, (She was really on my case). A long time good friend and Blues Hall of Famer, Steve George, is in a duo this time with another friend Bob Pace (one hell of a guitar and together good enough to win) so I can't not go. Egad, grown men begging. I loved it. That was today at their Blues Fest gig here in Des Moines.
So I had this idea. I've found in the past that many of the bands travel to Memphis not knowing a soul. And what they want to see is other shows, but don't know who to see. And they also want other groups to hear their work. At any one time there are fifteen or so bands performing at the venues. I am going to use my video site as a meet and greet location to help these guys out. And duplicate everything to place on this site also. The more locations the better. It won't cost them anything. The bands can send promo stuff and I can put it out on the mailing list.
My site was erased (hundreds of blues clips) about a year ago during an internet provider's upgrade. I've been into so much other stuff this year that I haven't replaced any blues pages other than some performers from the 2008 IBC. And this page on LiveBluesWorld needs a serious facelift. I hear about my blues slacking a lot but the priority has been time spent providing income. I promise to get back to work on my blues stuff real soon.
I usually take ten contracts from performers to tape them in Memphis. Any more than that and things get too confusing. The rest of my time is spent taping people off the cuff and approaching them later to see if they want to buy footage. It's not a money maker but it does pay for the trip. There is nothing better than to walk in someplace cold and within a minute you know the band is really good. That's why the IBC is so incredible. They are all worth seeing, three days of solid gold.
Have a good September.
Hi Jack...
I left a comment on one of your smokin' Lara Price videos and forgot to say "great job!" (I'm assuming you created that) Thanks for doing what you do... offering your expertise, sharing, supporting and promoting the artist.
Regards... Michele
