Profile Information

About Me:
I am a novelist and porch picker. I grew up playing Southeast/Piedmont acoustic blues I learned from the previous generation of porch pickers.

I got hooked when I heard Willie McTell playing on the street in front of the Pig N' Whistle on Ponce in Atlanta, Georgia as a child. The music hit me like a cool wind and gave me a chill I can still feel. That was a very long time ago.

I'm working on slide these days. No performing ambitions. Just like to pass the time.

I like to meet blues players and hear what they are working on.
Favorite Blues Artists and Bands
Far too many to list, but check out K. M. Williams right here on Live Blues World.

I'd also like to give a big shout for my wife's uncle, Nick Gravenites. Chicago born, Nick was a member of such classic bands as The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Big Brother and the Holding Company and The Electric Flag.

He wrote such blues classics as 'Born in Chicago' and 'Buried Alive in the Blues.'

Check out Nick and his buddies of the Chicago Blues Reunion Band here:

Breathing

Breathing on a regular basis is a good idea.

Some people favor specific breathing techniques like breathing through a bottleneck or into a steel bodied guitar, but whatever gets the job done is fine by me.

I also try to avoid activities like getting my ass shot off in a honky tonk, overdosing on cheap-ass drugs , or driving my car into a tree as these activities can cause a sudden cessation of breathing.

Don't believe the faux hype -- Breathing is… Continue

Hi Fred,
Here is my wish for the very best to all my LiveBluesWorld friends as we take the music of our heritage into 2009 and the 21st century.
It's an honor to be on this journey with you. ..and a pleasure to be your friend. Thank you for allowing me to be a member of the community.

I've uploaded some tunes to my page, your opinion greatly appreciated. We'll have more interesting stuff soon I hope, after laying down some tracks with my new toy (the hurdy-gurdy) and I will try NOT to make it resemble manure! Will Cornell

I'm going electric! (Not by Choice).

Both of my acoustic guitars are in the hospital. Mister Johnson is getting a heart transplant and Mister Lothree is having back surgery. Love my Strats, but I'm going to miss feeling a guitar vibrate against my belly.

In the meantime, I have almost recovered from my recent bout of the plaisy.

I'm sure there are a bunch, but two that are in my orbit are Maddy's and Fat Matt's.

Hi Fred. My son called this week, the one who lives in Atlanta. He told me about a great rib joint that featured live blues.

Do you know it? I don't remember them name.
