Profile Information

About Me:
I am a Dine' singer/songwriter and my music is contemporary Native American: a blend of rock/blues/folk/jazz. My music is a reflection of who I am as a Dine' womam. Whether I sing about life, love, heartbreak, or the Beautyway (Hozhoji), my music echoes my deep connection to my Dine' tradition and culture.
Favorite Blues Artists and Bands
My biggest influence is my Grandmother, the late Alberta Bigsinger, who taught be to be proud of who I am: a Dine' woman. Also, traditional Dine' singers and pow wow singers. My music influences are contemporary Native American music artists such as Buffy St. Marie, XIT, A. Paul Ortega, Arlene Nofchissey-Williams, Redbone, etc., who crafted their music by intertwining Native American traditional styles with contemporary styles of music. Their music brought awareness of Native issues and instilled Native pride that made a huge difference to Native people everywhere.
I also love rock and da blues...too many favorites to mention. Love them all!

Hi Chucki,
Here is my wish for the very best to you and all my LiveBluesWorld friends as we take the music of our heritage into 2009 and the 21st century.
It's an honor to be on this journey with you. ..and a pleasure to be your friend. Thank you for allowing me to be a member of the community.

Hi Chucki;
Well in my first message I foolishly stated not many Native
Americans in my neck of the woods , I have a Thornbury Castle only about
8 miles up the road from my homebase the town of Bristol , is it the same one
I wonder? this one is part of the small town of Thornbury. What were you
doing there , something musical ? If you hit the U.K. again let me know and
I shall put the word around for you ( need plenty of warning though as the
U.K. books way ahead ).
regards
