Phil "The Bass" Green RIP

Dusty Nuts bass player Phil Green passed away last weekend. His willingness to share his 50+ years of gigging experience was invaluable to me.He will be greatly missed by all of us in the band.   Cheerio mate.See More

Just got Burnside on Burnside CD. Burnside at his best, with grandson Cedric on the kit & Kenny Brown on slide. Some fine juke joint music.

Listening to T Model Ford's first album, "Pee Wee Get My Gun". I can't believe it, but it's even more raw and evocative than Bad Man.

Chris Truman replied to Leon and the Reckless Allstars's discussion 'Pedal Madness'
This thing is a Mesa, man, it's built like a tank and unreliability just isn't an issue. Like any pedal, it can sound crap, but when you get it dialled in just right it's sweet as honey. I've got a couple of tube driven Electro…

Hey there Chris, yep 3 gigs in the one day did feel like a marathon but still lots of fun. I've got to admit though I was totally buggered Sunday and still a bit sore today but then again it's all worth while and I love it!! I'm…

STOLEN GEAR - MANCHESTER UK

I recieved this email today, listing the enormous amount of gear stolen from the band Noah And The Whale.

So, if you're UK based (maybe Europe too) spread the word, and if you have any info, Sam and Richard's contact details are at the bottom.

BAND SUFFERS FROM CRIMINAL ACTIONS

The following items were stolen from outside the Manchester Academy on September 29th, if anyone has any information regarding the following equipment or is offered any of… Continue

Hound Dog Taylor & The Houserockers

A few years back I came across an album by Hound Dog Taylor & The Houserockers. As soon as I started to listen to it I thought "this is what I've been looking for" if you know what I mean, it just got into my soul from the first note. I love the rough spontaneity of their music. I have several of their albums now and they're never far away from my CD player.
So I was wondering if anyone can come up with suggestions of any similar bluesmen.

Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a maintenance guy on a holiday center in the New Forest.
I've been playing guitar, on and off, for some 30 years or so. I play in a 50's, 60's, 70's cover band called The Dusty Nuts - it's more about getting together on a Monday night, playing and having a few beers than doing loads of gigs, but we do play a few.
I have an unhealthy love for guitars, amps and pedals.
Gigs I'll never forget :
Bo Diddley at the Jazz Cafe, Camden
The Enmores at the Railway Inn, Winchester (my son's first gig)
The Groundhogs at the Brook, Southampton
Favorite Blues Artists and Bands
Too many artists, too little time, but, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Hound Dog Taylor, T Model Ford, Seasick Steve, John Mayall and various Bluesbreakers line-ups, Tony McFee & The Groundhogs, Keith Richards, are all right up there.

I'm looking forward to this weekend with only one gig with the new troupe Sunset Dukes and with a bit of luck our CD will be launched.
I'm not one to rub it in but you never did answer me about the Cricket. lol :-)

G'day Chris, long time no speak, we're doing ok with the Cricket Huh? (the Ausies I mean) What's been happening down your way are you playing heaps. I'm still with Stringy and I've joined another outfit called Sunset Dukes, all original material. I had 2 rehearsals with them and did a gig, talk about pressure, only made one major mistake the whole night, whew, and the audience didn't even notice, double whew!! Ok catch up soon mate.

Hi Chris;
Yes Pete & myself are still " at it " as they say.
We go out as The Groundhogs Rhythm Section with variouse
frontmen , current British favourite is Eddie Martin as he has
proved to have subtle touches of Tony in his performance
( if you check out my videos , the last one has the first gig of
that line up )
Where is your local gig , if we are in the area we will give
you a shout.
