Thanks Bob. I've checked out a bit of J.B. Hutto - a real contender to be sure. I'm not at all familiar with Homesick James, so I'll definately be digging out some of his stuff.

Bastards indeed Graham. I can't imagine what the impact of this scale of loss is going to have on these guys, not only financially and the inconvenience, but I guess it's got to be a major emotional hit too. Keep 'em peeled mate.

Well....theere's J.B. Hutto at the top of that list and Homesick James, right?

Hound Dog Taylor & The Houserockers

A few years back I came across an album by Hound Dog Taylor & The Houserockers. As soon as I started to listen to it I thought "this is what I've been looking for" if you know what I mean, it just got into my soul from the first note. I love the rough spontaneity of their music. I have several of their albums now and they're never far away from my CD player.
So I was wondering if anyone can come up with suggestions of any similar bluesmen.

Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a maintenance guy on a holiday center in the New Forest.
I've been playing guitar, on and off, for some 30 years or so. I play in a 50's, 60's, 70's cover band called The Dusty Nuts - it's more about getting together on a Monday night, playing and having a few beers than doing loads of gigs, but we do play a few.
I have an unhealthy love for guitars, amps and pedals.
Gigs I'll never forget :
Bo Diddley at the Jazz Cafe, Camden
The Enmores at the Railway Inn, Winchester (my son's first gig)
The Groundhogs at the Brook, Southampton
Favorite Artists and Bands
Too many artists, too little time, but, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Hound Dog Taylor, T Model Ford, Seasick Steve, John Mayall and various Bluesbreakers line-ups, Tony McFee & The Groundhogs, Keith Richards, are all right up there.

G'day Chris, long time no speak, we're doing ok with the Cricket Huh? (the Ausies I mean) What's been happening down your way are you playing heaps. I'm still with Stringy and I've joined another outfit called Sunset Dukes, all original material. I had 2 rehearsals with them and did a gig, talk about pressure, only made one major mistake the whole night, whew, and the audience didn't even notice, double whew!! Ok catch up soon mate.

Thanks Chris, I'm so glad you like my music and Stringy and I have a lot of fun (on and off the stage) but he isn't into cricket (I don't hold that against him lol) I'll be getting home from a gig on Thursday night around 1sh so I'll miss the 1st bit of the cricket, bummer and I reckon your right about it going to be a close one. Will definately catch up soon.

Hi Chris;
Yes Pete & myself are still " at it " as they say.
We go out as The Groundhogs Rhythm Section with variouse
frontmen , current British favourite is Eddie Martin as he has
proved to have subtle touches of Tony in his performance
( if you check out my videos , the last one has the first gig of
that line up )
Where is your local gig , if we are in the area we will give
you a shout.
