I'm a guitarist living in Mobile, AL and playing locally these days. Spent 40 years on the road, most recently with the Beat Daddys. Have done "time" with Little Milton, Jackson Highway out of Muscle Shoals, Diving Ducks in Pensacola, Rufus Thomas in Memphis (my home town), and many more somewhere along the way. Currently, I'm working with Cathy Pace and Donna Slater near Pensacola as "Jezebel's Chill'n". Lots of blues, and whatever the ladies decide to do, and they can do it all. Soon as I can get something laid down, I'll get it on here for everyone to listen to. 'Til then, give the Beat Daddys an ear in My Music. I'll add more about life and eqpt. when I feel a little less lazy. Got an important meeting with Jack Daniel, see you later!
Some of the music on my page was recorded live by the Beat Daddys at a concert in Houma, LA, in June of 2003. Other than Crossroads, all were written by Larry Grisham, the band leader and singer. I'm playing lead guitar on all the songs, with Larry on rhythm and vocals, Paul Scott on drums, and John Hedman on bass. I left the band about a year and a half ago, so Fred James now holds the lead guitar spot, Larry on guitar and vocals, Jeff "Stick" Davis (founding member of The Amazing Rhythm Aces!) on bass, and Waldo Latowsky on drums. Go see the band and buy their stuff!!
I've added 3 songs by Jackson Highway from our second album on Capitol Records, recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in '79, or '80, I think. (Those days were cloudy then, moreso now.) The band was: Dennis Gulley on guitar, lead vocals, keys, and less than tall.....Russell Gulley on bass, vocals and we're going to Birmingham, no, we're not.....Ronny Vance on drums and Winnebago underwear....Tommy Patterson on keys, vocals, and bbq chicken lips....and me, on lead guitar and Cheryl. And there you have it.
