Paul Phillips and Michael Frankel
Paul and Michael went to school together in Wanstead in the late 60s and early 70s, and have written songs together over the years. Both have been involved in various bands. Paul recorded with Jimmy Winston of the Small Faces with a record release on Decca in the 70's, and Michael released a single with World Series. In 2006 a mutual friend put them back in touch, and a trip to Sweden in 2007 led to Blues jam sessions in the Bjorkeberga loft studios with Michael’s son Wes playing bass. Paul suggested writing some Blues songs and the first collaboration was “I Got A Woman” - the beginning of a creative frenzy with an ever increasing catalogue of songs on the Birchwood playlist. Michael writes the lyrics and Paul the music and records the songs in the Björkeberga Loft Studio (at home on the farm in Sweden).

She blew a smoke ringed question - ”Where you been Charlie ” ? ”Well, sing punk!”
A distant muted horn, Miles…

Our new song "Blues Is My Baby" has been featured on BBC Radio Lancashire. Nick Dow has a regular Blues show on Friday nights at 21.00 called "Lancashire Bluenotes". It's a great show and I often listen from Sweden.
"The Blues was my baby, but she left me for another guitar man" sets the mood and then we hear the guitar pining for the the Blues to come back - even if it means the sacrifice of a good-hearted woman.
