I am a third generation Gospel Lap Steel Guitarist. My interest in the lap steel guitar began at age 6 and I began performing publically in church services at age 9. My father Henry Nelson and my uncle Willie Eason are my heros and greatest influences. My Uncle Willie Eason introduced the lap steel guitar to the House of God Churches and thus is known as the father of Gospel Steel. He later taught my father Henry, who was noted as a phenominal guitarist for over 50 years. He performed with several gospel greats but the most noted was Mahalia Jackson. He passed away in 2001 and my uncle Willie passed away in 2006. I am comitted to continuing our family legacy and heritage by remaining true to my roots and the lap steel style. I am also a minister and have been for 30 years. I live in Nashville, TN. My wife Lori is also a minister, thus we are partners in all things. Our Band; "The Aubrey Ghent Band" or "Aubrey Ghent & Friends" fits into all gospel genres. We perform at most venues within the United States and abroad. We are totally independent and now have our own Indie label entitled AuLo Records. Check out my web sites at: www.aubreyghent.com, www.myspace.com/aubreyghentband, and also www.aulogroup.com. To schedule me or my Band contact my Booking Agent, Lori at lorighent@aol.com, or call 615-478-5724. We would love to perform at your upcoming venues.

Hi Aubrey,
Here is my wish for the very best to all my LiveBluesWorld friends as we take the music of our heritage into 2009 and the 21st century.
It's an honor to be on this journey with you. ..and a pleasure to be your friend. Thank you for allowing me to be a member of the community.

Thank you for the note. I've had people tell me they find my songs, "Free At Last" and "Song Inside Me" to be inspirational. That makes me feel amazing as I was expressing my revelations on my own life not fully realizing at the time how people can make them their own.
I do appreciate your own commitments...
Curious, what do you think of young Robert Randolph & The Family Band?
Best, Michele
Aubrey... I'm a fan of the lap steel and Gospel! I like your take on O.V's "Don't let My Baby Ride"... nice!! "Gospel Jam" is swinging, too.
Blessing to you... Michele Lundeen
