I'm a gal who wears many hats as a single mama to my beautiful girls, a blues singer, songwriter, friend. I made a dream come true when I started my blues band, Amy Lou's Blues, 4 years ago. I wanted to sing all my favorite songs of my fave blues women and help keep them alive, to keep me alive, so to speak. I also love to write and wanted to try my own songs. I love to sing and I always have. I grew up with deaf parents and music was something they could never understand, and everything to me. Outside the house, I spent my whole life in and around music and was married to a musician for 20 years. It was always all around but I was busy aswife and a working mother, never dreamed of actually pursuing it for me until later in life. The short of it is, after a series of personal heartbreaks and trials, there was a breakdown of sorts and then a spiritual awakening that changed the course of my life. I left my husband to find myself n start over. When I did that, I found my voice. Everybody in my world thought I was crazy for wanting to be a "rock star" at 39, ha, havin an early mid life crisis or somethin. I just wanted to sing the blues! Fast forward here due to space, but I put together my band and we have had a blast together the last 4 years! And we're still goin strong! I am so damn lucky to have the guys that I have with me! A great rockin band of seriously talented blues musicians who dig the same stuff that I do and really are havin a great time together playin all over the bay area! Im so glad I didnt listen to them back then, but, to my gut, my soul, that said do it or die. Sounds dramatic, I know, but well, you had to be there. I know that what I found with this band and our music is the very thing I needed for my happiness and peace of mind. I found my bliss all right! BIG time! I am very passionate about singing, the band, our music, songwriting and I love the blues so much. One would think that with all the stuff I've been through, I'd be singin really low down blues, hang yourself blues, but thats just it, I wanna sing the feel good songs that make me feel good and the upbeat ones with the sassy or funny lyrics. And I do! I do sing a get in your face blues now and again, but I'm more into old school rockin blues. I really do feel blessed to be doin what I'm doin, to get the gigs that I get and play all this fun stuff with the band. It took balls for me to step foot into the blues and try it at 39! I kind of had to. I didnt want to go to my grave without ever tryin it, without ever steppin on a stage and singin my ass off! I knew I had it in me and I wanted to. My bandmates, Scott Miller, Gary Rosen Scott Porter and Luke Piro, are 4 of the finest musicians I could ever dream of playin with! Not only are they outrageously talented, they are FUN! Its so cool to play with them. No drugs, no attitudes, no egos. Just a great time every where we go. Its like a great marriage! The chemistry is perfect, I am so happy with them. We play alot of fun old school stuff and all the fellas all sing too, so we have a very diverse sound. And they crack me up all the time!
Everytime I hit a stage I say to myself "Hit it God!" ha ha And then "we" go on and the band is smokin and we are rockin for 4 hours! We do it, cuz we love it! You can check us out at our websites and we are plannin a new CD of originals for next year! Our myspace page has originals "Biker Chick Blues," "New Do Boogie," "Red Hot Mama" and "My Blues." The latest one I wrote is called "Lookin for a Lover," thats out on youtube. At 45, I feel good and Im really grateful for it all and for the Universe being so kind to me. I just wanna sing and have fun! To do all this with Scott, Scott, Luke and Gary is somethin special I can take to my grave! Well, thanks for stoppin by my page, for bein my "friend" here and I wish you much success in this great adventure we are all on called the blues!

Happy Holidays Amy Lou!
Hope your Christmas was great and your New Year will be even better!
My Band just got back from touring in Spain ... we had a blast! All shows were sold out! Not bad for a first Spanish tour, right? Anyway, all the best.
Good stuff. I liked "Jump" the best. Say hi to Lou for me. I haven't be to SF in 10 years, and I'm glad to know she's still going strong with great groups like yours. Ever run into Jimmy Thackery?
