We had some good discussions that afternoon--the old days in Austin, talked about the original Antone's, Stevie growing up, and Jimmie and the T-Birds. He told me how one day he and the Vaughan brothers were just sitting and talking and Stevie remembered back when he was a kid, borrowing records from Jimmie to learn the licks. After a year of learning Freddie and Albert, Stevie hears Buddy on the radio one night and says, "Jimmie, you got any Buddy Guy records? I want to start learning that stuff." He said Jimmie told him, "you're not ready yet, kid. We all want to grow up and be Buddy Guy. When you're ready I'll loan you Buddy's stuff, but I don't want you to get confused."
