Well I am dissapointed CCMusic sent me the wrong CD, Poco Live at Columbia Studios." Looks interesting, even see a steel faced guitar on the back cover being played in the guy's lap. Could be pretty cool, but not--I want my Johnny Winter! So their customer service rep says I have to mail it back before they will ship the correct one.. I said no way, let me talk to a manager. I explaied the inequity to the manager and he said he would have the Johnny Winter CD out right away, should have it in 3-5 business days. Cool. Mistakes happen, so if the CD gets here by the middle of next week, all is good.

My biggest delemma is I have more Johnny Winter songs than will fit on my mp3 player, so I have to decide which ones not to include, and then every so often I listen to those (they are on a second mp3 player) and start switching things around. Got to get a 4 gig player.

Wow! Nice. I ordered the Filmore CD last month and still don't have it. I can't wait for the longer versions. I have Dervish Blues, same songs as Captured Live but for one song like you said. Captured Live has much better sound quality than my Dervish Blues. Rock and Roll People on Dervish Blues is cool because at one point the lead guitar suddenly quits. After a few seconds of bass and drums, you hear a voice (think it's Johnny) saying, "blew a fuse man," then the lead guitar comes back in. To me, that is really cool and should not be cut. Live in america has some cool stuff in the song "She Moves Me Man" where johnny makes his hints to the sound man part of the song.. "I don't know why..... there's so much echo on the PA set. ... Didn't rhyme, but it gave me the blues."

You should be easily able to get Live in America 1978, either from the source, half/ebay, or Amazon. You may want to try Amazon.co.uk, just figure the conversion factor. I paid 17.50 shipped for mine, then a few days ago was on half or amazon and saw a copy listed for $2.10 (for real, I was freaking and hitting the buy button like a mad man). It will be $5.10 shipped, so I have a co-worker who loves Johnny Winter (I've sold him a dozen JW CDs in the past few months) who will give me $11.30 for it (avg cost of the two I purchased). Man, you will never see it for $2.10 again, figure to pay easily 15 bucks, but it is worth it for sure, one of the best live concerts, right up there with And Live and Captured Live (hey, Live in NYC is also great!).

hello fellow johnny winter fans; i got the jw and live at the fillmore east 10/3/70 cd the other day; it's a great addition to my collection, although i was a little bit disappointed that track 2: good morning little schoolgirl, is the very same track that's on johnny winter and live from 1971! track 4: it's my own fault also appeared on johnny winter and live album back in '71, but here it's unedited & uncut & runs about twice as long as the original! the version of mean town blues is also the same performance from johnny winter and live from 1971, but it too is about twice as long in it's uncut/unedited version! so just having these uncut versions makes it well worth the money & worthwhile to me! i wish they didn't cut/edit live performances to begin with though; i'd rather hear it just like it spontaneously happened! there are also 4 other songs that ARE new, or at least i don't think i've heard these particular performances before. and the sound quality is great! not bootleg quality. i just wish they'd release CAPTURED LIVE album uncut & unedited! there is a bootleg out there (dervish blues & retro rock radio show that is the same as CAPTURED LIVE except it has longer versions of some of the songs(esp. hwy 61) that aren't edited/cut like they are on the official release, plus a killer version of jumpin' jack flash that wasn't even included on CAPTURED LIVE! MAYBE SOMEDAY SOMEBODY WILL RELEASE AN EXCELLENT DIGITALLY REMASTERED UNCUT VERSION OF IT! & maybe they'll release a LIVE BOOTLEG SERIES from this same lineup & time period. i'm still trying to get a copy of the live in america 1978, but so far no luck! take care everyone.....................................................................................................................

Does anyone have the record album, Johnny Winter Austin Texas? It was a later re-release of Progressive Blues Experiment. Has a cool cover photo and a writeup on the back (or was it the sleeve). Anyway, I had that album in the 70s and remember only that the writeup mentioned Johnny having been in rehab. I a dying to get a copy of the writeup on that album, but hate to spend 10 or 20 bucks for a copy of the vinyl edition when I have Progressive Blues Experiment on CD. Would appreciate if anyone can post a readable photo of the writeup from Austin Texas. There was an Austin Texas CD release too, but is rare and expensive.
