Jimi Hendrix-Rock primarily, although his influence has been felt on Rock, Jazz and Blues.
Janis Joplin- Blues, In the Bessie Smith, Big Mama Thornton camp.
J Geils- Started as Blues Band, finished as pop band via Mtv. Made money, I don't fault them.
Magic Dick- Damn good Harp, not sure whaz up lately.
John Mayer- Pop star with a little venture into blue thrown in.
Rolling Stones- Basic Rock with influences.
ZZ Top- Blues, with a need to kick it in the butt.
George Thorogood- Blues
Eric Clapton- Blues and Rock
Keith Urban- not sure, Country Right?
Fleetwood Mac- early years Blues, later years after Peter Green- pop.
Joe Bonamassa- Blues
Stevie Ray Vaughan- Blues and Blues/Rock
Edgar Winter- Rock
Kenny Wayne Sheppard- Blues
Walter Trout- Blues
Rory Gallagher- Blues/Rock
Arsen Shomakhov-not familiar with
Jonny Lang- not sure about him all the time.
Colin James- not familiar with.
Popa Chubby- Blues/Rock
Chris Duarte- Blues/Rock
Monster Mike Welch- not familiar with.
Correy Stevens- started as Stevie Ray tribute act, now blues I guess.
Eddie "the Chief" Clearwater- Blues
Johnny Winter-Blues
Rick Derringer- Rock
Paul Butterfield- Blues
Mike Bloomfield-Blues
Alvin Bishop- Blues
The Allman Brothers Band- Blues/Rock and some great ballads.
Personally I'm in favor of adding the Blues influence to all idioms, as well as expanding the scope of "The Blues" with other influences as long as it deepens the talent pool.
