As the song goes: If you're gonna be dumb, you better be tough.

The studio demo is finally finished. 3 weekends of recording, 3 days of editing and 2½ days of mixing and mastering. Recording ended last sunday, so that gives you an idea of how fast the process has been. I know my poor producer needs a vacation now, and can't thank him enough for the massive effort he's put into this.

The demo is 3 songs, and they're available for listening on http://www.myspace.com/jakegreenblues now, and will later be available as free download from www.jakegreen.dk .

Credits:

Guitar/Vocals: Jake Green
Harp: Mikkel Willumsen
Keys: Jes Højgaard
Bass: Arnold Ludvig
Drums: Hans Rosenberg

Producer/Engineer: Law Kenzie
Lyrics/Melody: Jake Green

Special thanks goes out to Bjarne for kicking me into doing this, and Law's wife for not killing me for stealing her husband.

Congratulations Jake! Yep, it starts out being so exciting and fun, then gets crazy and exhausting and then comes the immense satisfaction of a job well done (or at least the fact that we have something to show for all that! LOL! I don't know about you but I always wish I could have still tweaked something more after the fact).
Hey, went ahead and listening to your tracks on MySpace now. Cool! I'm into that soul, funky edge and you've got it! Nice groove on "Road That Leads To Pain"... great vocals! Wow, I just noticed this is a 10+ min. song?! Nice guitar tone and feel on your solo. Digging the way "Blues Don't Bother Me" kicks off. "Ain't Gonna Fall In Love Again" is cool, too. Good job! Do you ever listen to Curtis Salgado? You'd probably dig him. He's pretty amazing.
Cheers and best of luck out there.

(BTW, this may be a silly question, but do you know Heine Andersen? He used to be my guitarist before he started touring with Candye Kane. Now he's playing and a little touring with his wife Missy Anderson. He's from Denmark and I think got in the US Blues scene when he hooked up with soul singer Earl Thomas in the mid-90's and then relocated to here in the San Diego area)
Thank you. =)

Yeah its almost weird when you're done with it. No more running fast.
It's less "satisfaction of a job well done" and more "well, we made the damn thing, lets see what we can do with it"...

And yes, the urge to tweak and fiddle is definately there. I can hear every little error and every little mixing mistake very clearly, but I'm trying to be zen about it and leave it as is. Its a demo and a snapshot at where me and my band were at at that particular time. Thats what I keep telling myself. =)

Yup, Road that leads to pain clocked in around 10 ½ minuttes, but we didn't feel like it got boring, so we stuck with the format. We put it second on the promotional CD so people wouldn't fall asleep.

No, I've never heard Curtis Salgado, but I am now. Very nice stuff.

No, can't say I've met Heine, but I know most of Missy's european backing group. Missed her last time she came around Denmark.
I finally got around to updating my website, so the 3 demo songs are now available for download on http://www.jakegreen.dk
