I'm Looking for a Blues Show for our Local NPR Station...

Hello fellow Blues Lovers.
I'm putting out a call to my fellow Blues DJ's...The local NPR Station (that I currently have a Blues Show Running on) is looking for another 1 hour show to add to their roster. Due to funding cuts at the Station, they've had to drop several show, and are looking to fill the bill with possibly another Blues Show. The big kicker is-the pay--there is none (just like my show, that I've been doing for years)-this is purely a labor of love thing...I get paid for another show, but not for the local NPR Show (which is where I got my radio start at....
If anyone is interested in possibly having their Blues Show aired on a local NPR Station in Illinois (with a strong signal, and that streams also), please get in contact with me, and we can do some talking, Jerry D

Thanks Gustavo--I'll let you "Keep on Keeping The Blues Alive" in Argentina! Keep spreading the Blues! Jerry
Hi Jerry . I'm not sure if this will fit. I do a weekly internet show for Nessmp3.com (Highlands of Scotland) via shoutcast. it is not the most polished of broadcasts but I enjoy doing it. I have just downsized my show from 2 hours to 1 hour its a blues rock whimsy thing at the mo' but can be tightened up to give the blues a more prominent role which would suit me. By downsize I mean I broadcast live but archive an hour of the show for podcast/download and if the mood is on me, and as I wont be stepping on anybodies toes ('cos there aint another DJ to follow) well I play a bit longer in a section called the lock in which is not archived if you want to here what its like http://www.nessmp3.com/radio/ is were you stream or download... Cheers Steve

PS its the RetroSmith Show
I'll have to give it a listen, This show will require some work on the part of the host (especially due to new "Streaming" Rules that go into effect next month) Thanks for your interest, Jerry D
Jerry-

BlackJack here from WDCB 90.9FM and www.WindyCityBlues.org with my "BlackJack's Blues Calendar". You may want to contact Mary Pat at my radio station WDCB to see if that's a possibility for any of our DJ's, especially Steve Cushing's "Blues Before Sunrise" (or contact Steve). You can email me at Bach07@Netzero.com...BlackJack
There is a guy his name is Bob Mandarino and he is hosting a jam session, that includes a guest host . the guest hosts are generally a blues guy that is a touring act and is well know, i can Hook you up with him and there is a live broad cast in the works its only once a week but it could be like the Grand ol opera of the Chicago Blues, this is not a Joke it is at a private club on ashland in Chicago, well any way its just an idea but it could be added as part of that one hour spot that is opening up,..Your friend in music ,...Al Stone, www.http://myspace.com/alstonetheshakers
Al, Thanks for all the great help that you've directed my way! I do like this idea about the Live Blues-it's something I'd like to see develop into a regular hourly show-available for distribution to at least non-commercial stations.
I think we have our need fulffiled for a new show. My boss is a Brit with a rich history of growing up in the British Blues/Rock movement that was happening around him in the 60's. (And he also was in a local band that opened for several greats). We're going to do a show together-each providing music from a couple Artists, and them talking together about them-we have a blast together, and I think this has a real possibility of being fun, and very entertaining. Now-I've got to come up with a snappy name for the show, and get it going later this fall...Jerry
our little santa cruz station kusp went npr and ended the best blues programming i ever heard. charlie lange's two steps. you should contact charlie.
Thanks for the heads up, I think we may have this taken care of, but I'll keep his name handy! Jerry D
Hi Jerry -

I have been blessed with talented friends, and have passed it along. One is a working voice actor AND blues DJ. Good luck!

Renee
We've got our name, and direction for the new show, on our local NPR Station--90.3 WQUB (www.wqub.org). We're going to call it "THE OLD & NEW BLUES REVIEW" with Mick & Jerry D. We'll be highlighting Blues Artists both old and new, and I think we'll start off with "The Major Influences music, both acoustic and electric-from Mick, and I'll provide music from newer Artists who they've influenced. This should be fun, and that's just the beginning of the possibilities with this show. I'll post the start date for the show when we get it hammered down, and also when it starts streaming....stay tuned, Jerry D
There is a killer blues show in the Detroit area, but on commercial radio (WCSX 93.7 FM). It's called the Motor City Blues Project and it is a fantastic program. Runs several hours. I don't know that you could get any of it on to NPR because of the commercial station, but it would be great. If not you should see if you can stream it over the web, worth a listen. Here is the info (scroll down past the rock station header) http://www.wcsx.com/blues/ The host has even interviewed Edgar Winter on the show.
