LiveBluesWorld

Hey everybody,

Inspired by Wes Race of Race Records, we are doing our first ever song contest on The Texas Blues Roadhouse. We have four artists so far that are competing, and we'd like a whole lot more.

The contest is pretty simple. Organ legend, Jimmy Smith, created a cool little tune called "Back to the Chicken Shack" that has a simple little melody line and a blues-like structure and simplicity. The song has been covered by blues greats like Muddy Waters and Charlie Musselwhite, to name a few.

The challenge is to see who can record the most down home, soulful, hip shakin', butt rockin' version of this cool little tune. It does not have to be a professional recording. I can be a live track from one of your shows. You can even use backing tracks if you want (Band in the Box files can be provided for those interested.) But at the end of the day, the winning entry will have the best groove that makes people want to dance (so you may want to consider your rhythm section very carefully).

All in all, this is just for fun. We're working on having some prizes for the winner. I'll update more on that when we have something to report.

Hope to see some entries from the good folks here at Live Blues World.

Peace,

Michael
