Muso to Muso, Friends in Need
Current mood: hopeful
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
We, like all Australians, are shocked and saddened by the devastation in our Nation’s South/East and are in awe of the fantastic work being done by our Australian fire fighters, The Red Cross and other emergency services.
Millions of dollars worth of properties and possessions have been lost, and amongst those losses is the musical equipment and studios of musicians and engineers in the area.
While our Government and local communities will be helping with the necessities of food, shelter, financial assistance & support, we need to help our brothers and sisters in the East rebuild their musical lives, which in many cases is their livelihood.
Global Thunda Network has begun to co-ordinate with some fantastic musicians and promoters across Australia in an effort to replace some of the gear that was lost. These people are planning fund raiser events to raise money for the purpose of purchasing replacement equipment. We ask all venues across Australia to support these promoters in this effort to help our Victorian musicians in crisis.
Musician can help in two ways.
If you were thinking of selling any equipment or are no longer in need of equipment you may own, we ask you to consider donating the equipment to this cause.
Alternatively, any musicians who are interested in donating their services to help raise the funds through the fund raiser events can contact the following people.
WA: Dilip will be holding fundraisers at Mojo’s.
NSW: Contact Brian Cain (Indiana Phoenix on myspace)
QLD: GTN’s own Mickey Riff
SA: GTN’s own Dave & Merry
Links to these people will be listed in your state’s Global Thunda Network blogs on MySpace.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the organizers of this Australia wide campaign to help our musoes who have lost everything.
We will bring you more information as it comes to hand, so please keep your eyes on our GTN bulletins as we bring you updates about this cause.
Thank you to everyone who is participating.
On behalf of the Global Thunda Network and Thunda Team.
