LiveBluesWorld

Hello Bluesfolk,

We were just wondering who might be planning to make the pilgrimage to Memphis to attend the IBC February 5-7. We're looking for recommendations on acts to catch - plus we're always interested in saying hi and meeting the folks we talk to online. We weren't planning to attend this year but we keep remembering how much fun Beale Street and the IBC is so we don't think we'll be able to resist hopping in the car and heading for Tennessee. Its a 12-hour drive from Michigan so that should say a lot about the fun factor of this event! (Last year Eden Brent confided that the IBC was something akin to a religious experience because of the great music and the camaraderie and the general magical vibe of the entire weekend.)

That is a good question, I didn't know they had more than one floor. We will have to call the Blues Foundation and ask. Where ever the equipment is set up ,in each venue, is where all the performers will play no matter if they are in the competition or Showcase. Do you know which floor the bands have been at for past IBC at Club 152? I've only been to Memphis one time on a family vacation, a couple of years ago, but I don't know anything about the clubs, except we ate at BB Kings.
G'day everyone!

I'll be flying in from Australia - although I am in the middle of Summer festival gigs here, the IBC is too cool an event to miss! I hope to meet you Fri am, Terri, as I'll be staying at the Doubletree too.

Melbourne Blues Appreciation Soc (Aust) band entrant 'Collard Greens & Gravy' made second in the band comp a few years ago and are worth checking out. Also, I am going to be performing at a Yellow Dog Records showcase at Kings Palace Friday afternoon - with lots of great guests plus other YDR artists: Eden Brent, Mary Flower, William Lee Ellis... Look forward to more news about 'LiveBLuesworld' hook up?

Best blues wishes

12 hour drive from Mich. to Memphis ... hmmm? ... well, I live in the mountains of S. Oregon ... just a bit further away ... but I ain't complainin' ... it's always a great time.
Hope to see ya in Memphis.

Nope - a twelve hour trip is nothing compared to the journeys a lot of folks will be making to get to Memphis.

As for a LBW get together, why not make it Friday afternoon before/during/after the Kings Palace showcase?

All the best,
Laurie (& Rusty) Wright
I'll be close by as I live in Memphis.
Yes I will be attending! We have several great entries from Mississippi and I will be there to make sure they have someone cheering them on. I hope to meet you if we have a chance!
Hello,
Austin "Walkin' Cane" out of the rust belt circuit. I'll be in Memphis for the IBC's performing as a soloist. It's been a couple of years since I was there last. I'm looking forward to Beale, Rendezvous & Gus' Chicken!
You should totally come down. It's a great time and you get to catch up with lots of old friends and meet alot of new ones. We will actually be leaving for the road on the 5th so we won't get to catch y'all then but hopefully sooner than later. Take care!
