LiveBluesWorld

Hi Everyone!  We are putting together Volume 2 in our "All Aboard The Blues" compilation series, and we would like to hear from you if you would be interested in our promotion service.  For a one-time fee of $695, selected bands receive: a spot on the album, 100 copies of the CD, 20 full color album posters, distribution and potential radio play to dozens of radio stations worldwide, distribution to blues publications etc, your band pic and site link on our site www.errorcraft.com.

Albums are limited edition promotional albums with full-color custom graphic design on 6-panel digipak sleeve with "bio" write ups and color band photo.  Albums are not sold, and our artists retain all rights to their original song.  Albums are distributed on a promotional basis only as part of a press pack we send out to our contacts in radio/the general music industry.

If this sounds like an opportunity you would be interested in, please send us a link to your music site/mp3s etc to submit@errorcraft.com.

All Aboard The Blues Volume 2 is due out Halloween 2010, and we have spots available.  You can check out an mp3 sample of Volume 1 at our main site www.errorcraft.com or by clicking the attachment below.  Thanks!

$695? Is this a misprint? 100 copies of the album? 20 full color album poster? Distribution with no guarantee of airplay?

Next to Battles of the Bands, this is one of the oldest ruses in the book.
Hi "CHC", we are certainly not trying to scam anyone or put into use an "old ruse". It's unfortunate that you see our service in such a negative light. We cannot force DJs to play specific tracks off our compilations, thus we cannot offer the "guarantee of airplay" you are looking for. All we can do is reach out to the best and brightest acts we can find and showcase them on a really cool album along with a bunch of other "go-getters". If the music is good, it generally gets played. Our contacts in radio send us regular "play-lists" of which tracks are being played on their regular programming. Thanks for your input, best of luck to you. "Errorcraft Records"
Halloween 2010 is a good release date, although April 1 would have been better.

Here is an even better deal: Send me $200.00 dollars and I will send you my best wishes for your success, a coupon to save on buying blank CD's, and most importantly the possible offer to maybe get a chance to probably have the ability to get mentioned on an obscure website nobody but the websites creator's family ever sees.
Hi Sue, just to clarify things for you, no "blank CDs/CDrs" involved...our albums our pressed on silver CDs and packaged in custom-designed digipak sleeves that present very well. And there are no "possibles", "maybes", or "probablys" mentioned in our posting, not sure what you're reading. Our humble website, as small as it may be, gets a respectable amount of hits worldwide. We're trying, it takes time to build a company in an industry filled with such skepticism. Give us a chance, hopefully we will still be around in ten years. Hey, even RCA started small, right? Anyway, thanks for checking us out, keep rockin' the blues! http://www.errorcraft.com
Everyone has a right to make a living, but this smells.

For $695 I would expect a little more.

Folks save your money..
Hi Rick, we are reaching out to actual blues musicians who are interested in taking the next step in their career. When you advise people to "save their money", is this based on some experience you've had being featured on a compilation album with musicians from all over the world? Please upload your original blues material so we can all enjoy it. We are a bit new to the blues world so forgive us if we haven't heard of you before. We are always looking for great music to feature on our compilations. Thanks!!
I work with some of the most talented national blues artists in the world. All the major Blues charts, awards, touring. I handle Blues Radio for them, and very close to many of them. Every week I have artists asking me to handle their promotions. If it was just about money , I'd have hundreds of artists The sad truth is most of the submissions are not ready for prime time and all the money in the world is not going to help them. The numbers of hours available for Blues Programming is not enough to service all the music being released. Not all airplay is equal. Which stations will play the sampler ?
Blues radio is now for the most part limited to a weekly program 2 - 4 hours a week.

For Blues, Blues Revue already has a sampler that is well received and respected.
For those looking to cross over, there's The Taste Of Triple A sampler.

The days of hit records in Blues ended with Stevie Ray. Labels and radio have changed.
Sounds good, Rick. You can see a partial list of the radio stations we distribute to on our website under the "compilations" tab. We assumed you at least checked out the website before telling everyone we "smell" and attempting to sabotage our small company, but I guess that's some people's first instinct when God forbid a business actually charges a reasonable fee for a legitimate product or service. The Blues Revue sampler is great, but always room for more great blues, right? It's very true that all submissions aren't where they need to be for radio play, and we do not take all-comers. Our albums try to maintain a high level of quality, which you can hear on the album samples uploaded on our site http://www.errorcraft.com

best of luck
My intent was not to sabotage. As I said I'm very close to a number of the artists and I know how hard they work to make a living. While this may not apply to you, I've known folks that have spent thousands and thousands of dollars with no pay back..

What applies to other genres of music does not apply to Blues,
My own feeling is that you really are not offering much for $695.
I hope you prove me wrong. Why not offer one member of Blues World
a free ride(have a contest) then we can track it and see how they did.

You list stations and not Blues programs on those stations
WDST FM 100.1 (Woodstock, NY) as an example has blues
only on Sunday 10PM - Midnight
what do you think the chance is of tracks being played ?

This is true of most of the stations that you list
A contest is an interesting idea, but it would alienate many "runner-ups" who might then feel slighted. We do not release blues compilations exclusively, so the list of radio stations you see (updates on the way) also play rock, folk, Americana, pop, indie etc, and we send them a selection of albums. You cite WDST as an example of a station which hosts a very limited amount of blues programming, so does that mean we shouldn't send them a copy of our Blues albums, or copies of our other compilations? You said yourself that blues radio is generally limited to a one 2-4 hour weekly program; with this in mind, why would you criticize our sending a Blues album to WDST? We also send our albums to several stations that are primarily Blues oriented, though sadly these are too few. You sound very pesimistic in your question "what do you think the chance is of tracks being played?" We're here for bands/managers who believe in themselves and are confident that they can and will get some airplay. If you've given up on the Blues ("the days of hit Blues records has ended") you may be in the wrong line of work as a promoter. LiveBluesWorld must have some less jaded people out there...we'd love to hear from ya'll!
Make the contest a random thing, the first to answer a question, the 10th response etc.

With WDST I'm pointing out that you must get it in the hands of the blues guy(who's mailing address is different from the station). Since he has 120 minutes of airtime. So if each track is five minutes, with no commercials he can play 24 songs a week. If you like those odds, go for it.

My belief is that the "Unsigned" or "Unknown" may have a better chance if they
ship their complete CD on their own, that get lumped in with 10 other artists looking
for a break.

Jaded ? I don't think so, more like realistic.

No I haven't given up, no complaints from anyone I do work for
It's obvious that the biggest "error crafted" was this proposal. An even bigger error was posting this proposal on a site frequented by some of the most savvy and sophisticated people in this industry.

Musicians: If you have any respect for your craft, avoid this offer. It was posted in error.
