GravelRoad/ Silver Lion's 20/20, Hillstomp Jan 30, 2008 SEATTLE

This is a copy of text Marty, our drummer has posted:

If ya didn't know, one of our band members is having a baby ... well, it's Kirby's Wife having the child ... not him ... but you get the idea. So, unless we get an amazing "don't pass up this offer" for a show, we won't be playing again until the Spring (we've got a Midwest tour in the Spring ... so we know we'll be back in Seattle the last weekend in March) ... so this'll be your final time to check us out for a coupla months. This next show is:

Wednesday Jan 30, 2008 @ the High Dive (Fremont - Seattle).
Early show ... doors at 7, Music starts at 8pm! $6, too ... Cheap!

This is our second "early" Mid-week show in a row. We tend to lean away from the mid-week ones, as many of you know, but there's a reason we're doing these. The other bands are on tour and from out of state ... plus these early start times are much kinder on us ... Sometimes we can't pass up an opportunity like this one ... Here's the line-up:

- 8pm: HILLSTOMP (www.myspace.com/hillstomp) ... our Brothers from Portland are back in town ... if you've not seen them, you MUST!

- 9pm: SILVER LIONS 20/20 (www.myspace.com/silverlions2020) ... these cats are from Nashville TN ... you may remember the frontman, Chet Wiese from his seminal alterna-blues band, the Immortal Lee County Killers who've been playin' the Unnderground scene for over a decade.

- 10pm: GRAVELROAD

This show is another that has the making of a Party-feel from beginning to end .... lotsa Dancin', Hollerin', and Good Times will be on tap ... so wipe away the mid-winter, mid-week Blues and let it All Hang Out ... Sho' nuff.

Have a great weekend ... but keep a little energy for next Wednesday, alright?!?

PS - If ya got friends in the midwest, take a peek at our tour schedule on Myspace and give 'em a shout ... the final TBA's on the list should be cleared up in the next week+, so please keep an eye out! Take 'er easy.

This is a fantastic line up! Why the heck does Seattle deserve such a gig, when us folks in Brooklyn NY are left wanting?? I've never had the pleasure of seeing Hillstomp live, but I saw video from their appearance at the Deep Blues Festival last year, and they sounded great. These guys sure do turn up the punk blues boogie. I did have the chance to see Chet with the Immortal Lee County Killers a couple of years ago (with John Wesley Myers of the Black Diamond Heavies on keys)...they were unbelievable...I consider myself fortunate to have seen them before they broke up, and I'll have to find a chance to see Silver Lions if they come around.

And of course, appropriately, GravelRoad tops the bill. What a night.

And since I have a day job that gets me up bright and early, I'll always vote for early start times.

This sounds great. Any of you folks somewhere in the upper Northwest...well, you know where you need to be on Wednesday.
I know, I am really excited about this gig! Jon (our bass player) and I joined Sugar Farm a few years ago to play a show they had opening for ILCK here in Seattle and had the fortune of having John Wesley join us all for a jam on Junior Kimbrough's Lord Have Mercy...damn fun! We're fortunate to be planning a few gigs with the Heavies here in the NW (and possibly Indiana or Tenn) in the Spring. Stay tuned! So, really looking forward to playing with Chet's new band - I am addicted to their MySpace tunes. Oh, and Hillstomp totally rocks live...get yr assess out to see them. They bring it for real and damn nice guys to boot.
Hey Stefan. I heard that GravelRoad had to miss the show because of a sick kid. Bronchial Pneumonia is a scary thing...and as a new dad, I know how it feels to have a sick little one in your arms. Crushing...absolutely stops the world until they are ok again. Hope everything turned out ok. The music will go on another day. In the meantime, hope he gets healthy, and when he does, I hope you get the new record sorted this weekend.
Eric (and everyone else who wrote to me/us on this and other parts)...thank you very much for your words and support. Means a lot, truly. Yes, it absolutely does stop your world. We were stuck in a warp for 4 days, dragged on for for longer than that...he is doing much better, has his game back and really wants some new wooden Thomas Trains, so what the hell, we're going to the toy store.

The music will go on...I dropped of the family at home, sat for a few and then went to the studio...we stayed up until 4am (on 4 days of little to poor sleep) and finished 7 of 9 mixes. Man, I couldn't believe my ears. This is going to be a powerful album...meanwhile, the engineer has school and will try to fit in the remaining two songs in a week or two and then hopefully off to mastering...we'll see. We hope to have copies on our hands for the March tour...

Off to the toy store!
