Chat is back!
Well, we're happy to say that we finally added back our chat feature. It's a new and improved version in many ways, and different from the chat we had up before. A few tips and pointers:
- You'll find a chat window in the right column, so you can follow along with a conversation on any page on the site.
- You'll also find a full chat page available from the menu bar at the top of the site. Full page chat for those that want to break out of the confines of that narrow column on the right.
- If you don't want to get pulled into a chat, simply change the drop down box option on the Chat title bar from 'online' to 'offline'. And voila...you'll vanish and avoid anyone poking you for a chat.
- And if you want to have a private, one on one chat, you can just click on the picture of the person you want to chat with, and you'll have the option of starting a private chat. Your conversation won't be seen by anyone but the two of you.
Lastly, there may be some occasional issues with chat, as it is a new application. If you hit any snags, bugs or mild annoyances, please let me know so that we can address them.

Good suggestion Sue. I would like that myself, as I notice that when I pop on from work throughout the day, I quickly set it to offline before someone can try to get me into a chat I can't actually have.
I'll see if I can make this happen in the next update.

Whats up with the LBW chat change! First of all the directions to find the chat are poorly written. Its NOT at the bottom of any "page" its on a "Bar" at the bottom of the "screen." Do you know how many "pages" I scrolled looking for that arrow! lol.
AND I cant stay connected there. I have no other connectivity problems on other sites. I wonder what the problem is here....
I think the new Chat is too hard for people to find. You have even less chance of getting new people joining the live chat now.... Shrugs...

I agree. I must admit, I'm not at all happy about this new chat. it's awful. I apologize to the community about this...although it wasn't a change I had control over.
I'll start pounding the doors to see if improvements can be made...

Well i must have to change my name to blind chat finder cause i cant see no little arrow on any bar at the bottom of my pages!! Not even on my site. So could someone please post a screenshot of where this little arrow icon ios so i can find it thanks Shawn. This was a bad move on nings part here thehy could have at least sent us network creators a letter about this change instead of just changing things on my site that does not bode well with me that is for sure!!!

Actually I think the best wording would be something like ... To launch chat, look down to the Chat Bar at the bottom right of this WINDOW. Click on the arrow that points to the left.
Try following my directions above and see if you can find it.

I still have no idea where in the heck the little arrow is! I have nothing like that on my pages or window i am using firefox and even my site doesn't have it so i am majorly confused and upset that ning would do this.

if you look at the bottom of the browser window, you will see a grey bar with the words LiveBluesWorld chat. You'll then see 'x' members online, with some icons right next to them.
I run on firebox too...so you should see this. If you click on the arrow that points slightly left, you'll see a chat window pop up.
I'll post more detail instructions tonight with some pictures, but I must admit...while I'm annoyed that there isn't something more intuitive...and I need something for the right column, the popup window is nice.

Hi all
Well, as many of you now know, last week we had an upgrade to our Chat room, and it's been nothing short of a disaster. I was holding out hope that things would improve, but I have no word from the powers that be that a fix is on the way.
We had a great chat community here, and I'm not going to just let it whiter away.
So first off...I'm sorry this has happened. I know that chat is a big part of our community, and I'm as frustrated as you are with the change.
Having said that, I'm not working on finding a better chat solution to plug into the site. As a short term fix, I have put up a new Chat tab at the top of the page, which launches a new chat room that I hope will be better than what we had here.
It's an interim solution, and I hope you'll find that it at least allows everyone to come back in to LiveBluesWorld and reconnect with friends.
Over the coming days, I'll work on putting something even better in place, and will work to ensure it's a long term solution that will serve us all well.
If any has any suggestions or requests, just plug them into them comments below and we'll do our best.
