SUMMARY:SCISSORMEN w/ Rockstellar in New York City!
DESCRIPTION:Greetings to all my friends, enemies, colleagues and blues
lovers alike...\n\nAs some of you already know, I've been working wit
h my friends Ted Drozdowski and Phil Reeves to present a night of LIVE
BLUES at The Delancey Bar & Nightclub on Saturday, March 20. Please s
ave the date and plan to join us for what promises to be an exciting n
ight of live independent music.\n\nWe're very lucky to have Ted's Nash
ville-based band, Scissormen, headlining the show. Ted is one of the m
ost exciting, engaging guitarists I know, and his brand of slide-heavy
North Mississippi \"hill country\" blues -- served up in the finest s
pirit of of legends like (the late) R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough
-- is best experienced in a live setting.\n\nTed is also an authorita
tive, top-shelf music writer, a friend of the late Robert Palmer and s
omeone whose work has appeared throughout the world. With his musical
endeavors deeply informed by his scholarship of American roots music,
it's no surprise that Scissormen will be featured in an upcoming film,
Big Shoes, by acclaimed documentarian Robert Mugge.\n\nMy friend Phil
Reeves, meanwhile, plays guitar in Brooklyn-based trio Rockstellar, w
hich will take the stage right before Scissormen. This exciting band b
lends old-school rock and blues sounds with stellar musicianship, all
in service to some really kick-ass original songwriting. And like Ted,
Phil is one talented, versatile guitarist: When he's not doing his th
ing with Rockstellar, you can find him playing in Soulshine, a fast-ri
sing R&B outfit.\n\nWe'll have other acts on the bill, including my pa
l Emile Menasche', one of the most dedicated songwriters I know and (l
ike me) a magazine refugee of the late-'90s Cherry Lane Music Company.
Emile will kick things off with a bluesy acoustic set that will get g
oing at 8 p.m. Emile will be followed to the stage by the Anodyne Blue
s Band.\n\nIf you're still reading at this point... well, thanks! We h
ope to see you at The Delancey on March 20. Please come out and suppor
t the blues, and please send this on to everyone you know!\n\nTake it
easy (but take it!),\n\nSean McDevitt\n82-67 Austin St. #102\nKew Gard
